Butler Athletics Welcomes New Head Wrestling Coach

Butler Athletics is proud to welcome Chas Thompson as the new Butler Head Wrestling Coach. With his vast coaching experience, we are certain Coach Thompson will continue to lead the Butler Wrestling program to new heights.
Coach Thompson most recently served as the Head Middle School Coach for Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Schools the past 2 seasons. Prior to that he served as the Head Coach at Fort Hays State University where he coached an outstanding 17 All-Americans and 49 Academic All-Americans. In 2017, Coach Thompson was named the MIAA Coach of the Year. Prior to Fort Hays, Coach Thompson led the wrestling program at Pratt Community College, guiding 2 All-Americans and 11 Academic All-Americans. Additionally, in the off season he spent time coaching Freestyle and Greco-Roman for the Kansas national teams.
Coach Thompson and his family recently relocated to the greater Dayton area to be closer to family – a move that opened the door for Butler Wrestling to gain a proven leader with a passion for shaping young athletes into champions. Please join us in welcoming Coach Thompson to the Aviator family.
